Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Dulcet Melodies different from other music
schools?
Most music schools have been teaching the same way
for about 400 years. This doesn’t mean that these
methods are bad - far from it. But as technology changes
the way we live our lives, so too must music schools
change to meet the needs of today’s music student
and their families.
Dulcet Melodies makes use of computers and recording
devices in each studio to make recordings of each lesson,
so that students will have a reference to practice along
with at home, containing their exact scales and instructions.
Further, through our website, it will be possible to
request cancellations or rescheduling of lessons, check
your student’s progress, and even pay your monthly
bill on-line.
We know that people are busy: we are people too. We
want to make things easier for you, by giving you access
to your teacher 7 days a week via email, in case you
need clarification of a particular point made in your
last lesson. If you get the wrong instructions, after
all, you work on the wrong skills and fall further behind
your desired goal. This is backwards.
Through progressive hiring policies and offering extremely
competitive wages to teachers, Dulcet Melodies will
attract and retain a well-qualified, experienced and
positive staff that truly believes that teaching music
is a calling and passion. The people who teach your
children will be people who truly love teaching music,
and are good at what they do. No frustrated performers
or washed-up divas, here. We will attract the best and
retain them, so that your teacher in September will
be the same teacher you had in June, and the same one
you’ll have next year. Constantly changing teachers
and teaching styles confuses the student and frustrates
the parent. We will tolerate neither of these inconveniences
to you, and we will ensure this by making our staff
some of the best-paid and most-appreciated teachers
anywhere. We expect a lot from our teachers, it’s
only right and fair that they expect a lot from us as
well.

What is the "Clarion Music Network"?
The Clarion Music Network is a network of Calgary-area music schools and their students. The idea behind Clarion is a simple one: Give students access to the best teachers and the best musical education at a reasonable cost.
The Clarion Music Network offers referrals to qualified, local teachers and schools in your area of interest. Further, the Network ensures that you can connect with other students in your area - whether helping each other practice, going to concerts, or forming ensembles, being a member of the Clarion Network means you've got the support of dozens of teachers and hundreds of fellow students.
The most important attribute that Clarion brings to the table is honesty. The sad truth is that many schools offer overpriced lessons with unqualified and inexperienced teachers. We believe that it takes more than a fancy logo or self-important name to make a school truly exceptional - and our member studios are committed to offering access to the best teachers, and the best education, at a reasonable and justifiable cost. We will NEVER make any adjustments to cost, lesson time or teacher without full explanation and justification. Your satisfaction is our agenda!
